"Kare-kare is a rich and meaty Filipino stew of oxtails, green beans and eggplant in a sauce thickened with peanut butter. Served on special occasions or as a Sunday meal, kare-kare is always accompanied by white rice and a bit of sautéed shrimp paste called bagoong alamang."
This dish is a favorite of among Filipinos. It is rich and full of flavor. If you haven't tried Kare Kare yet you seriously need to a slap in the butt. You would need a lot of patience in preparing this dish. Mind you, it's not the easiest to cook.
This Kare Kare as seen in the picture above was prepared by my personal chef (again). Well, he does all the cooking in the house, and I do the cleaning (fair enough, right?). The most dominant flavor in this dish is the rich flavor of the peanut butter infused with the meat. The bagoong helps in steering off the "sum-ol" factor of this dish.
Try cooking this delicious Kare Kare at home, and you'll definitely fall in love it!
